Experienced Medical Society Executive to Lead Regional Organizations Supporting South Florida’s Physician Community
April Donahue, Executive Director of Collier County Medical Society (CCMS), has recently joined the teams at two additional county medical societies. While retaining her role at CCMS, Donahue now also serves as Managing Director at the Miami-Dade County Medical Association (MDCMA) and Broward County Medical Association (BCMA) effective June 26th. With nearly two decades of experience in organized medicine and association leadership, Donahue shares her proven record of innovation, collaboration, and physician advocacy with the South Florida medical community.
Donahue will oversee day-to-day operations, strategic development, membership growth, and physician engagement initiatives for MDCMA and BCMA. She will work closely with the boards of directors, medical leaders, and community partners to advance the mission of supporting physicians and improving the health of their communities. Each of the three medical associations – CCMS, MDCMA, and BCMA – continue to operate as separate entities.
Donahue’s prior leadership roles include Executive Director and Communications Director of the Hawaii Medical Association. Donahue. She is a Recognized Fellow of the American Association of Medical Society Executives (AAMSE), a member of the AAMSE Leadership Committee, and a past board member of AAMSE, the Florida Medical Association (FMA), and the FMA Political Action Committee. She is a past chair of the Conference of Florida Medical Society Executives and a graduate of DePauw University, the AAMSE Leadership Academy, Physicians Foundation Leadership Academy, Leadership Florida, and Leadership Collier.
Donahue has been named to the Naples Illustrated “Naples 100” list of top business leaders and Gulfshore Business magazine’s Southwest Florida “40 under 40.” In 2019, she led Collier County Medical Society to an AAMSE Profiles of Excellence Advocacy Award and the AAMSE President’s Award for Innovative Healthcare Engagement Within Organized Medicine.
