The Foundation of Collier County Medical Society recently hosted its 11th Annual “Docs and Duffers” charity golf tournament at Bonita Bay Club in Bonita Springs. The fundraising event on October 5th, though concluding early due to rain, raised over $22,000 in net proceeds. Our supporters, including 115 golfers, 19 sponsors, 38 prize donors, and 25 volunteers came together for an enjoyable afternoon of golf, contests, a tournament raffle, and an awards after-party.
“We appreciate all the contributions and participation from our golfers, supporters, and volunteers, especially this year as they braved inclement weather,” said Dr. Rolando Rivera, Foundation board chair. “Their continued generosity is critical to raising funds for future medical professionals and supporting our community’s healthcare.”
Money raised from the event will provide scholarships to future medical professionals and funding for local healthcare programs in need. For example, the Foundation has provided over a quarter of a million dollars in scholarships over the past 10 years, including the Dr. William and Nancy Lascheid Memorial Scholarship for Medical Students and additional healthcare scholarships. Scholarship applications for 2025 will be available at ccmsfoundation.org in December 2024.
Golf tournament supporters included Hole-in-One Sponsor Porsche Naples and Eagle Sponsors Advanced Urology Institute and CARE Risk Retention Group. The Foundation’s 12th Annual Docs & Duffers will be held in the fall of 2025. More information will be available at ccmsfoundation.org.
